Our Credentials 

The Neill Group’s expertise stems from the experience of Dion Neill, a former member of the New Zealand defence forces and emergency services. Dion provides his clients with the benefit of over 30 years experience within the international security and private investigation arena.

Dion is the longest serving licensed private investigator, field agent and authorised legal process server operating in Wellington and one of the most experienced private security operators in New Zealand.

Dion was one of the founding directors of the original company, Wellington Investigations, working alongside the directors of Auckland Investigations (now known as ‘The Investigators’). Dion contracted his services to a number of private investigation and security organisations prior to establishing The Neill Group.

Dion is a foundation member of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Investigators Incorporated (NZIPI), Security Institute of New Zealand and the Institute of Management New Zealand. Dion is a former Certified Fraud Examiner with a number of internationally recognised qualifications in security risk management and private investigations.

Dion featured on the popular television New Zealand series, ‘Private Investigators’ and interviewed regarding protecting high profile people in New Zealand. Dion regularly provides commentary to the media on personal safety, security, risk management and private investigation industry matters.

Dion has spent a number of years conducting covert surveillance, managing undercover operations and hundreds of investigations. Dion was one of the first licensed private investigators in New Zealand to carry out assignments for the ACC and other government agencies.

In the 1980’s, Dion provided evidence in the High Court of New Zealand following a lengthy investigation focusing on a major theft operating within a large multi-national business. Dion’s evidence was key to the successful conviction of over 25 employees and business owners. Dion survived cross-examination in the High Court by the late Mike Bungay QC who represented the offenders.

Government Licensing

The Neill Group and Protective Services (not a limited liability company) is the trading names of Dion Neill, a sole trader who is certified and licensed by the Ministry of Justice as a private investigator, security consultant, repossession agent, personal guard, property guard, crowd controller and confidential document destruction agent.

All contracted agents and associates are licensed by the Ministry of Justice to ensure compliance with the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010.
